Hi Everyone,

Quick update. Things are moving along now. Skeet was moved to the chemo ward. He has a single room with a view on the first floor. He can wave to us when we come and go. They inserted a tube through his nose that runs into his stomach, yesterday. This tube is to light up his stomach so they can see where to insert the G tube. Today, they inserted the port for the chemo and later today they will do the G tube. The G tube is a feeding tube. He said they can put ground up food through the tube. He already has his menu figured out. He is still in good spirits and the doctors say he is their best patient, always happy and positive.
He gets to relax for the weekend. They are giving him 3 types of chemo on Monday. We think he will have it for 24 hours and then have 3 weeks off. We are not looking forward to this but he says "bring it on". He is ready. God bless him and please keep praying for that miracle.

Love Lisa

By the way his new number works, he had about 10 calls to return. Mom and Dad had to change their cell phone plan. You know him he has calls to NY, CA FLA etc.... All day and all night.

Good Morning everyone,

We have to scratch my last blog. They aren't doing the stent thing. I guess the stent is metal and will interfere with the chemo and radiation. You would have thought they had thought that out before again they switched things and we don't know what is going on. He was supposed to get a line put in yesterday so they can do a feeding tube Friday but they never put the line in. Which meant he didn't eat ALL day! You can"t eat after midnight. Finally around 4:30ish they told him it was canceled and he would go in this morning. Hooray!! They just took him down as I was blogging. He called. I told him the phone number he has isn't working. Hopefully they fix it. His new number is: 8572034814 or his cell is 7815074507. Keep our fingers crossed and keep saying those prayers!

Today Skeet was moved to a room in the chemo section of the hospital. He has a new phone # which I will post tomorrow. I left the slip with the number on my desk. :(     A feeding tube was going to be inserted today and the port for administering the chemo should be done on Friday in hopes that they start the chemo on Monday. Skeet will also be undergoing radiation at the same time.

Keep those prayers and good thoughts comming.

Bill

Hello again,

Well, today was a "POSITIVE" day, so the Doctors say. Skeet had an endoscopy today. The Doctors seem to think they may be able to put a stent in his esophagus on Thursday. This way he can eat better on his own. We still don't know if he will need the J tube or not. Skeet seems to think he will. They wanted to start chemo this week but have to wait and see what the results are Thursday. He is all pumped up , if you can believe it. His motto is "Bring it on". He is ready to fight! He is still on the Ensures and graham crackers. Mom and Dad visited today and so did Dan Margarita. I should have visited and then he could have said I had a "Martini" and a "Margarita" today. Ha Ha.

Once again, Eric wins the visitor trophy!!! Besides Mom and Dad.

Skeet told me to tell everyone hello he loves you and thanks for all the support!

Hello Everyone,

I am Skeet's sister Lisa and I will be keeping an updated blog for everyone that may be interested in his new adventure.
As most of you know he has been diagnosed with a type of esophogeal cancer (Adenocarcinoma) and it has spread to his lungs and liver. Skeet is staying at the Veterans Hospital in West Roxbury while undergoing other tests. Eventually (hopefully tomorrow) they will be inserting a J Tube into his intestines. This is a way for him to get more nutrition. He has been there just about a week. Skeet has been able to drink Ensure's, chicken broth, juice and has managed to get down a few graham crackers all by himself which he couldn't before. He is not in any pain and feels fine. This morning he walked 2 miles and did pushups. His spirits are great and he has a positive attitude that is inspirational. He had a ton of visitors yesterday and a bunch of family members today . Lets keep up those prayers! I will keep everyone posted, hopefully day to day. He does have a direct number, which is
857-203-4752 if anyone would like to say hello.
To Be Continued. Love Lisa

Skeet had a busy day today. Not much going on in the medical end, since it is the weekend, but lots and lots of visitors. Cousin Catherine dropped by today and prayed with Skeet.

He has been drinking Ensure and has been getting it down along with some juice and crackers but nothing more than that.  It's not solid food but it has added up to about 2000 calories a day.

It looks like the plan for right now will be inserting a J tube into his lower intestine so that they can get some food into him. The doctors feel that will be safer than if they placed it in his stomace. Less chance  of complications. Once that happens and we hope that it is done on Monday or Tuesday at the latest, then they can start the chemo soon after that. Don't know when he will be released from the hospital but when he does he will be going home with Frank and Anne.

I will do my best to keep everyone informed as to what is happening. In the meantime Skeet would like to thank everyone for their prayers and continued support.
